A note of caution on iPhone OS4?

I watched the liveblog last night on the iPhone OS4 launch. Kitty's pretty happy with multitasking support, which doesn't surprise me as that alone drives me bonkers when I use her iPhone.
Anyway, my potential note of caution. iPhone OS4 will support multiple ActiveSync accounts - but I've not read anywhere this is for anything other than just mail. So, if you're using Traveler to sync an iPhone, and also sync with gmail - what happens to your contacts and calendar entries? Are they shared/duplicated/blitzed?
Also, if you can background and app, but not close them - how does the iPhone cope with multiple backgrounded notifications? For example, what happens if I run 10 Twitter apps that notify me each time I get a tweet? Do I get inundated with notifications until I power the thing off? I'm not saying anything else is better - just that at least on most other platforms I can kill the app.
Yours, expectantly looking for an answer, a non-iPhone user :)
