Note to self: don't say 'will try to blog...' - Thanks for BLUG!

Because you know you just won't!

This is far too late, but my heartfelt thanks to Theo for organising BLUG last week. Even though I spectacularly failed to blog at all, I did have a great time and felt very well looked after indeed. In my humble defence, the sore throat that I had prior to BLUG turned into a grotty cold over the Easter weekend. So after sniffling my way through a meeting last Wednesday - I consigned myself to the sofa until yesterday morning. Boo.

Of course, after sampling some great Belgian beers last week I - yet again - realised just how bad my language skills are. Even early in the morning, Theo (Belgian), Ulrich (German) and numerous other people (not English) were still able to hold a good conversation with me in English. My Flemish/German/French/etc - still terrible. The sad thing is though, that my language skills are pretty average for the British. As much as I appreciate everyone elses' ability to speak English fluently, I don't think I'll ever find it 'right' that I'm not speaking the local language. Note to self - improve on this!

In other news, however:
- Eurostar really is the easiest way from London to the continent. Wondering if you can train it to Denmark....
- Amex Platinum card is ACE. Used the lounge access far too many times already. Why didn't I do this 10 years ago?
- Testing 8.5.2 broke my full text search (we do these things so you don't have to!) and also my bookmarks.nsf apparently. Queue rebuild...
- Eileen is a great co-presenter
- ILUG 2010 registration is open!

As I pointed out earlier, UKLUG is taking a rest this year - two large events in one year is just too much for us I'm afraid (unless anyone wants to actually pay my salary to do it...). So in 2010 ILUG is the focus. That means more of the usual and more fast selling out conferences. So, if you haven't already, head over to www.ilug2010.org and check out the details. You know you want too...
