How much disk space could you save?

Gravatar Image1 - @5 - very true, if only users would listen...

Paul - I've not had many problems with SCT at all, but then again I don't edit the templates much. But I do change the template! Never do this to a standard template, it's just begging for trouble...

Gravatar Image2 - My Lord , I've a web page to put in Agreed it is a great feature, but not if you have a customised Mail template. Tested this before, in an environoment where there was a customised Mail template. And it constantly threw errors on the customised design elements. Would not / could not find the customised design elements. Never managed to track that one down, as we were just looking at it at the time and because of how ' finiky' it appears and because of time constraints and risk, decided not to proceed at that time with it. Great feautre, but I'm not 100% convinced how solid it actually is.

Gravatar Image3 - Most of the diskspace on mailservers isn't wasted by design elements but by emails with large attachments. Given an average mailfile size of 250 MB you cannot get more than 5% back by using a single template copy. Might be a better idea to teach the users how to archive mails, how to use team databases, how to ZIP attachments...

Gravatar Image4 - Before implementing SCT on the mail template it is a VERY good idea to make a copy of the mail template and give it a new Master Template name while making that template inherit from the original. Then mark the new template as the SCT source and then use the convert task to migrate people to that new template.

Why? because once a template has been marked as an SCT source it cannot be unmarked and cannot be deleted. As the mail template is a standard notes template it may get replaced during an upgrade and the SCT option may get turned off, users mailfile can no longer find their source and during the next design task all the design elements will be added back into users mail templates resulting in a very very quick loss of diskspace.

Gravatar Image5 - As much as it hurts - I agree with Ms D. I have implemented and have had to roll back... I love the concept, just not solid enough yet for my liking

Gravatar Image6 - In our envirnoment my mailbox is inheriting from the template "iNotes6",
But when I look at the inotes6 template is is not a "Single Copy Template"

Why is this feature not used default for mail, can I activate "single copy template" on our mailtemplate ???

Thanks
Anon

Gravatar Image7 - Customised Email templates , customised NAB , seen and done it all Agreed it is not a good idea to customise the Email template, but sometimes you just have to. For instance, when , please god , when will Notes have groups that only specified individuals can email to ? and Mr Mooney agrees with me on something ? excuse me while I go into shock
