Well, still travelling, so how about an update on St Pancras?

I got some spare time before I left, so remember those spires that needed Sand Green tiles? They got tiled In fact, with a few Bricklink orders, I managed to find all the 1x4 and 1x2 tiles that I needed. Not cheap on the 1x2's, but I got enough - don't they look nice? These are actually pretty much finished, bar the gables on each side. I think these will need to be supported from the wall below, but I'm still thinking about that one.

I've also had the chance to start work on the main tower roof - the part over the entrance arches. It hasn't gone very far, but my effort so far can be seen here. That's going to have to wait until I'm back in the UK.

The final thing I spent alot of time on, was a section of the wall. You've probably seen the CAD drawing of this, but it was important to build a reference section to make sure it actually held together! What you can't see from this picture is that the Technic beams I embedded into the basement level are now pinned to the back of the wall, all the way up to roof level. It holds together very well actually, but I will need to put in some plates to hide the corner of the roof where it meets the walls. Not something I was planning on (read: will need more tan 1x8 plates!), but because the top floor windows run completely from side to side - I need to pin the beams above that level. I reckon this took 3hrs - and it's one of the easy ones! So, 15 more wall sections to go.....

I have tried a roof section as well. Looking good, but VERY tile intensive! I'm also really not looking forward to cutting 120 window holes either....

Gravatar Image2 - Good to see the progress Warren. Went to the Glasgow Science place to see Transformers 2 on the IMAX screen there and with all the excitement of the imminent release of Harry Potter there were various figures made of Lego including one of Hagrid. When I say figures I am not talking about teenssy titchy things - the Hagrid was a good 4 - 5 foot tall. And there were a couple of others there as well. Get yourself over - you don't have to pay to see them either - they're in the foyer.
