Yes - that is a headline designed to grab google ratings.

Running UKLUG is hard enough at some times. But it gets silly once banks start messing you around. As you can probably guess, we have a number of international sponsors and UK sponsors, contributing to make UKLUG happen by cheque, bank transfer, CHAPS, BACS, wire, etc etc. All of our sponsors have been kind enough to pay us. Or at least try to....

Currently, the Alliance and Leicester have managed to loose 1 international CHAPS transfer. It's been paid to them - but it's not in my account. The international team are telling me there is no way at all they can trace this. I don't believe them.

You'd think that was bad enough, but they have also managed to loose 2 cheques that we've paid it. Strangely, it isn't the A&L's strange cheque paying in procedure. Do you go to a branch and do it over the counter? No, you put them in an envelope, with nothing else enclosed, and hand it over at a post office. Seriously. I queried this twice, to 2 separate people - that's what you're meant to do. So, they've managed to loose these 2 cheques as well. I know they have been paid in - the senders can confirm that - but they aren't in my account.

So, seriously - could a bank be any worse? OK, I'll admit that things going wrong happens every so often, but it's the complete refusal to do ANYTHING about it that is infuriating me. What am I supposed to do? I've now logged an official complaint with the bank (not that I expect that to go anywhere), and I'll keep harassing them. Perhaps I could charge A&L for my time???
