Wall-E

Thanks to some brilliant advance booking, and even better blagging techniques, Bill, Ashley, Kitty and I were all off to see Wall-E yesterday for free! Yes, that is before it opens
Anyway, if you've been thinking about going to see this movie - DO! It's simply fabulous. The animation is upto the normal Pixar standard that you'd expect. In fact, it's probably even better than previous films, but unlike our local cinema the screens aren't digital so I couldn't tell! (Yes, it looks that nice).
More importantly though, the story telling is just great. I'd heard some reviews that the mood changes halfway through for the worse. I don't think so - yes it changes, but it works very well and moves the story in the right direction at the right time. The characters are brilliantly written/acted/imagined/whatever-the-word-is and are completely believable. The humour as well, is perfectly done. I'm sure we missed half the gags, but that just means it warrants a second showing to me. If you have kids, take them to see it. If you don't, just go anyway. You'll get all the jokes that they're too young to understand!
Oh, and I'm told that a certain proportion of a certain large country are up in arms (not literally, I hope) about the environmental undertones of Wall-E. Well, tough sh*t. We're not green hippies around here, but the film is dead right I'm afraid. If it helps a new generation of rugrats grow up thinking more about where their rubbish goes - how can that be a bad thing?
