We're back, baby....
I'm glad to announce the 3rd annual Lotusphere boat race! Yes, it's time to do something silly once again - all in the name of fun.
Don't know what I'm on about? OK, here's what happens. If you've ever been to Lotusphere, you may have noticed that in the lake between the Swan and the Dolphin hotels there are pedalo boats. 2 years ago, a few of us decided that it would be good fun to have a race. Then, a year ago about 30 of us decided a race would be good fun. This year we're back, bigger, better and more barmy than ever before
So, what's new this year? Well, this is YOUR time to get involved. Firstly, go take a look at the website and what we did last year. There are a few important changes this year though..
First up - thanks to a very generous donor (who I'm not sure if I should mention here), the race is FREE to enter! Secondly - I have sad news.... The Swan pedalo boats are gone. The powers that be at the Dolphin have decided that it's best for guests not to have heart attacks paddling them, so there are new ELECTRIC boats this year. Of course, that means we can't have a speed race, so this year it's a slalom. Skill will be required. Skill will also be required because this year the boats also have guns! Yes, they have water pistols mounted on the boats and you may use them
How do you get involved? Well, if you want to enter the boat race, find yourself a captain and crew (teams of 2, please) and go register on the web site.
Next, if you don't want to race, but would like to be involved, I need some Race Marshalls. You don't actually have to do anything apart from promise to turn up on the day and wave a flag. I'll also ask you to please be involved in the next stage.
IF YOU ARE A LOTUSPHERE EXHIBITOR - you don't know it yet, but you supply our prize fund! Last year I tapped up every stall on the show floor for their giveaways, and these were the prizes. Teamstudio even donated cash as well! We'll be doing the same again during the Monday night reception. If you're reading this (or you know an exhibitor you can tell), I would really appreciate it if you could put something aside for the boat race, or even better - come up with a special prize for the fund and give it to me directly. Telling 300 people exactly why we wanted their giveaways gets really dull after a while!

maybe I can make things more interesting next year, just let me find a way to bring my micro-submarine thru US Customs
