I've just found another *really* cool thing in Domino 8! - honestly, you're going to love this!

OK, perhaps you'll only love this if you're an admin - but look developers - cool code to investigate...
Anyway, take a look at the screenshot That's from a directory assistance entry that uses LDAP. See all the new buttons? Those are the new LDAP Configuration Wizard.
Not sure where your LDAP server is? Click 'Suggest' and the client will run an agent on your server to query DNS and find available LDAP servers! Want to check your login details? Click on 'Verify'! The wizard will even query your LDAP directory to find the directory type, check base DN's AND verify that the name attribute exists!
Why am I so excited? Well, before this, the only real way to check this would work was to configure Directory Assistance, wait for the server to reload the tables (or more likely restart), watch is silently fail, then turn on all the debugging variables to find out what is going wrong. Seriously, I've spent alot of time doing this!
So, I'm very excited by this. If you want to know more, it's all going to be featured in my Lotusphere session - BP107, The low-down on LDAP. And if anyone can tell me which IBM'er decided that this should go into the product, I will personally buy them a beer. THANKYOU!
