A question on the Notes 8 Standard installation - can you make it do this?

I pose the simple question, because I've been researching this for my Collaboration University presentation, and I can't do this. I know it's not supported, it's specifically excluded in the help files, and has never been supported, but...
Can you install Notes 8 Standard, with all options, into;
Where 'h' is a drive mapped to ANY network location. Even mapped back to the local machine?
I can't. In fact, I can't install Notes 8 Standard without any additional options in this manner. For reference (because I can't find it in Google), I end up with an:
"Error 1926: Could not set file security for file: H:\notes\data. Error 3. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions for this file".
This is in a VM, no domain membership, no login scripts at all. Is anyone else seeing this error, or is it just me? Now, I don't want to cast any aspersions - I am SURE this will be possible in some future release, but this would mean that at present I'd have NO customers (zip, zilch, none) that could install Notes 8 standard in the same way they run Notes 7. Every single customer I have (and we're talking 10's of thousands of seats) install with the data directory on the home drive. In fact, most client PC's don't even have read access to their C: drive, so locally installing data is a total no-no.
--Update--
All is not totally lost - moving the data directory after the install seems to work. That does still scupper any customised installs you may have though..
